Achern

Hiking to the Ropes Course

Visiting the Mayor of Achern
Renchen

Straßbourg Münster

Straßbourg
As our visit to Achern comes to a close, we decided to include some pictures of our adventures in the Blog. The first is of our visit to a ropes course. The course consisted of 7 parts, of which most of us did 5. All of the students in the group participated, and we enjoyed seeing everyone again. Each course was filled with obstacles and tightropes that we excitedly maneuvered ourselves through. Also the tree-to-tree ziplines proved to be a lot of fun.
The group picture shows all of us in the visiting hall in the courthouse of Achern. Our picture will soon be found in the local newspaper as a proud display of our visit. After the visit, we all hiked up to Sasbachwalden, where my Grandfather lives, to visit and hopefully go swimming. Sadly our hike took longer than we expected, so we were unable to go swimming, but we enjoyed the scenery and beautiful weather. We also visited the famous Alde Gott wine shop that is famous in the Black Forest area. A few of the students also made it all the way up to visit my Grandfather, and later commented on the extreme likeness between him and my Dad.
Some of us also made it to Straßbourg, earlier in the week, as well as recently. The Münster is one of the many sights that are strewn throughout Straßbourg. Two of the families also took us on a boat tour of the city, which allowed us to learn a little about the history from the area.
Many of us did not live directly in Achern, but in smaller towns in the area. I lived in Renchen, of which you can see a picture, which was very peaceful and quaint in comparison with the busy cities we had seen before.
Now that our visit to Achern is coming to a close, many of us are distributing gifts and packing our suitcases with heavy hearts to continue our journey towards Stegen and then Garmisch- Partenkirchen.
